Mobility aids may reduce impact of fibromyalgia
Adjustable Bed News

Fibromyalgia, a painful condition that can affect the whole body, could have less of a negative effect on couples who use mobility aids.

Researchers at the University of Missouri have looked at the effect on couples of one partner being diagnosed with fibromyalgia - and reveal that it can cause stress and unhappiness for both people.

Christine Proulx, assistant professor of human development and family studies in the College of Human Environmental Sciences, says: "Preliminary research suggests that fibromyalgia is very hard on both spouses because their lives are changed dramatically."

Anything that can help to reduce the impact of the condition on their daily lives - such as mobility aids - could therefore be a positive step in helping to combat its negative effects.

The negative impacts of fibromyalgia include the fatigue of living with the disease and depression arising from its impact on the health of the relationship.

But mobility aids such as adjustable beds could help to reduce the physical pain felt by relieving some of the pressure from the individual's body during sleep.ADNFCR-2649-ID-19749437-ADNFCR
