Could adjustable beds help improve health?
Adjustable Bed News

Adjustable beds are designed to help the user achieve a more comfortable night of rest and better quality of sleep and according to a recent study, not getting enough of this could cause damage to health.

The research, conducted by UK and Italian researchers from the University of Warwick and the Federico II University Medical School in Naples, found that people getting less than six hours of sleep a night are 12 per cent more likely to suffer a premature death.

Jessica Alexander from the Sleep Council, a body that promotes awareness of the importance of sleep, was not surprised.

"Poor sleep, lack of sleep [and] sleep deprivation has a direct impact on emotional and physical wellbeing in all sorts of ways," she said.

A recent report from Vitality show and MetroNaps found that as many as 16 per cent of people are getting less than six hours of sleep a night. In London alone, 42 per cent of residents claimed to sleep for less than five hours a night.

Ms Alexander recommended people make sure the conditions are right to sleep when they go to bed.

"That does mean a comfortable bed and a cool, quiet, dark environment in which to sleep," she said.ADNFCR-2649-ID-19768127-ADNFCR
