Invacare Mobility Scooter Range...
Invacare offers the following types of scooters – Comet, Orion, Leo and Lynx (currently available), and Auriga, Meteor, Solar, Taurus and Electra (currently unavailable). Among these, the four-wheel Comet is perhaps the most famous and popular.
Weighing 136 kilograms and capable of carrying up to 25.2 stones of weight, the Comet has a maximum speed of 8 miles per hour and can travel up to 34 miles on fully charged batteries over average terrain. In October 2008, the scooter was awarded the “Rehacare Design Award: Good Design” at the Rehacare Fair, an annual international event organised by Messe Dusseldorf in Germany. For a safe and comfortable drive over all terrains, the scooter boasts large wheels, a powerful motor and adjustable suspension systems in both front and rear. Other features include intelligent electronics, unique lighting system (including headlight, indicators and brake light), adjustable tiller, swivel seat, and a two-step disengaging lever that protects the scooter from free-wheeling if it is accidentally knocked out of drive mode.
Compared to its award-winning counterpart, the Orion is considerably
smaller and lighter, yet with similarly attractive features. The scooter is available in both three-wheel (weighing 103 kilograms) and four-wheel (weighing 110 kilograms) models. Both are capable of carrying up to 21.4 stones of weight and travelling up to 26.1 miles on fully charged batteries, with a maximum speed of 6.2 miles per hour.
The Leo is a four wheel scooter that is specially designed for outdoor use. Weighing 83 kilograms, it can be easily dismantled for transportation during longer trips or weekend breaks. The scooter is capable of carrying up to 21.4 stones of weight. At a maximum speed of 5 miles per hour, it can travel up to 22.4 miles on fully charged batteries. For the user’s complete comfort, the Leo features adjustable tiller, rear brake light, two-step disengaging lever, swivel seat in sliding rails, seatbelt, crutch and cane holder, and a large mirror that can be mounted in either left or right side of the tiller. Particularly noteworthy is the built-in anti-splash guards, which protects the scooter’s vital workings against dirt and water.
Finally, the Lynx is the ultimate “portable micro scooter” that is ideal for shopping trips, excursions and holidays. Weighing only 49 kilograms, yet still capable of carrying up to 21.3 stones of weight, the scooter can be easily dismantled for car transport. The Lynx is relatively slow and short-ranged, with a maximum speed of 3.7 miles per hour and capable of travelling 10 miles on fully charged batteries. However, its attractive features include puncture-proof tyres, adjustable tiller and arm rests, and swivel seat that is adjustable in height.
