A man was left with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a lorry on a pedestrian crossing.

The man, in his late 50s, was on a mobility scooter at the time of the incident in Bridgwater on Wednesday.

He has suffered serious leg injuries and has been taken to hospital in Bristol.

The driver of the lorry was not injured. Police have appealed for witnesses and closed one junction in the town.
