Had a call today from a carer looking for help pushing a manual wheelchair.... We managed to source a power pack which is attached to the wheelchair and controlled by the carer to help pushing the wheelchair...
Received a call today about a scooter being on charge but not moving after being on charge overnight. If this is the case it worth checking to see if the battery is taking the charge, as it may need replacing.
We often get asked about paying VAT on mobility scooters... We have extracted the below from the HMRC website:
Which equipment and services can be bought without paying VAT?
If you have a long-term illness or you're disabled, you won't have to pay VAT when you buy any of the following items:
adjustable beds, chair lifts, hoists and sanitary devices
auditory training aids
low vision aids
medical and surgical appliances designed solely for the relief of a severe abnormality or a severe injury
alarms
motor vehicles, boats and other equipment and appliances designed solely for use by chronically sick or disabled people
You also won't have to pay VAT on any charges made for the installation, repair and maintenance of these items, or on any spare parts and accessories needed for them.
Please note this is correct at the time of adding to our site.

We had an interesting call.... are 3 wheels better than 4 when it comes to mobility scooters.... In our experience 3 wheels offer excellent maneuverability, whilst 4 wheels offer greater stability. So it depends on what the scooter is to be used for. If you plan just to use the scooter inside a shopping centre then 3 wheels may be best. If you plan to be out and about the 4 will be a more stable option...
Received a telephone call today requested a manual for a Pride Scooter. Unfortunately we don't have manuals on our site, but if you Google the scooter make and model with the words "manual", more often than not you'll be able to find one which you can download and print off.
Hiring a mobility scooter for just one day can often be difficult. If you are looking simply to go shopping you should contact shopmobility. If however you wish to hire a scooter for say visiting a park or family for the day then one of partners may be able to help as they have a network on mobility shops which can offer local pick up services.

What a great idea and should have been done years ago. I am disabled and use a mobility scooter, but I also drive as well. I am very careful when I am out and about on it. I have a 8mph scooter, I have it registered with the DVLA even have number plates for it, and not my name or nick name, it is just like when you register a car, I also have insurance, and it is also taxed. Most of the time when I go out on it you would not believe the amount of people that laugh at me and think that the number plates are a joke. Even with all of this I try my upmost to not use the roads. I know that a lot of car drivers do not have the patients when scooters are on the road. The sooner this is done the better. I also think that it would be a good idea to introduce some sort of tests for drivers of cars etc... to be aware of mobility scooters, breaking distances, speed etc.....

A visitor has just called in asking for the turning circle for a mobility scooter. Now, this will vary depending on the make and model of the scooter. The turning circle of the portable four wheel scooter we had was 5ft / 1.6m. See our videos for scooter in action.
Just had a delightful Lady call us to discuss scooter warranty, a she had bought a scooter that was only a month old as the previous owner no longer required it shortly after purchasing it. The problem was that the scooter shop that sold the scooter wouldn't transfer the warranty into her name.
This lead to myself assisting her to find out the fault codes on the scooter, so now she is in a position to get the scooter fixed at a reputable dealer.

Spoke to a client today ref the Luggie Mobility Scooter. They're after a scooter which is portable, but also suitable for day to day use. I my opinion the Luggie is an ultra portable scooter, excellent for just that - for day to day us I'm not to sure....
Please comment below if you have a Luggie...

Should mobility scooter insurance be compulsory? We receive numerous calls on a daily basis asking if it is a legal requirement... Currently no, although we think it is a good idea to take out insurance for peace of mind if an accident did occur.
