Folding – Portable Mobility Scooters
Folding mobility scooters can be transported in the boot of your car then you will require a folding (also known as portable) mobility scooter. Folding mobility scooters are specifically designed to be easily dismantled and re-mantled, and light enough to be lifted in the car boot.
When putting the scooter into the car most can be dismantled into sections to make it easier to fit and also lift into the boot. Example sections being:
- Chair
- Rear wheels
- Front section
The battery can also be taken out to make the rear section lighter.
We have tested a portable scooter and found it easy to divide into sections and place into the boot. The chair simply lifts out by pulling a leaver and lifting. The rear and front sections divided by pulling another lever and lifting at the same time, we then folded down the handle bars. This only took a couple of minutes. Putting the scooter back together is also simple and quick.
The photo below of a folding mobility scooter shows the section when divided.
