Power Wheelchairs - Helping find the right one for you.

Our mission statement:

  1. To provide information on power wheelchairs to aid you in purchasing the right wheelchair for your needs.
  2. To put you in contact with a reputable and reliable mobility company which adhere to not only our strict checks but also relevant checks laid down by the Trading Standards. Click here for further information.

Consideration before you buy a power wheelchair:

  • Is your home suitable for a power wheelchair i.e. door width, front door steps etc.
  • Does it need to be transported; some power wheelchairs do not usually fold or are easily dismantled. A light weight model can be transported.
  • Do you require a traditional style wheelchair or a power wheelchair with affixed seating system?

Question to ask before you buy:

  • Does the company offer an assessment if required; ensuring the power wheelchair you buy is the right one for you?
  • Does the company offer a full warranty and visit YOU should anything break. Some companies will require the wheelchair to be sent back to the manufacturer to be repaired, you may have to pay for the postage.
  • Will they assemble the wheelchair when delivered?
  • Does the company employ their own technicians to repair any faults?
  • Do they offer national coverage?
  • Do they offer any other mobility products which may be of interest?
We only deal with companies which can answer YES to the above questions.

Power wheelchairs further information:

For those with upper body disability or with little strength or stamina a power wheelchair is ideal to travel longer distances and achieve greater independence when compared to manual wheel chairs.

Before buying a power wheelchair your must consider you physical and development factors such as posture, coordination and visual perception.

There are two main types of electric wheelchairs:

Traditional style

Traditional electric wheelchairs look similar to a manual chair and simply incorporate a motor system and battery.

Affixed Seating style

This kind of electric wheelchair is more of a modular chair with a power base and affixed seating system. Such systems usually have adjustable heights, plus a reclining and tilt function.
