Stair lifts  - Helping find the right one for you….

Consideration before you buy a stair lift:

  • Straight or curved stairs – stair lifts are available to fit both straight and curved stair cases. Straights are cheaper than curved as curved stairlifts usually have to be custom made.
  • Narrow staircases – they can usually be made to fit narrow stair cases.
  • Weight restriction – different lifts will have a different weight restrictions – check before you buy.

 Question to ask before you buy:

  • Does the company offer an assessment if required; ensuring the product is the right one for you and suitable for your home?
  • Does the company offer a full warranty.
  • Does the company employ their own technicians to repair any faults?
  • Do they offer national coverage?

How much do they cost?

They vary in cost, depending on the size and shape of the staircase.

Do they fit curved staircases?

Yes. They can be fitted to a curved staircase.

How long does it take to fit?

Normally, within 7-10 days. Some companies offer a faster installation should your case be urgent.

How do they operate?

Controls are usually found on either arm-rest in the form of buttons; up and down. Or usually, a toggle switch is supplied to help users who may have arthritic issues

What power supply do they require to operate?

Connection is normally to the nearest 13amp socket

What do I do in a power cut?

Most new ones run on DC power, and have a battery backup which would last for up to 6-8 trips.

What are the weight restrictions?

Usually they are restricted to 18 - 21 stones.
