Mobility scooters - Helping find the right one for you.

Consideration before you buy a mobility scooter:

  •  3 or 4 wheels – 3 wheels generally offer greater maneuverability, ideal for use in shops. 4 wheels offer greater stability ideal for general day to day use. 4 wheel scooters are likely to have a greater distance range and the ability to carry a heavier weight.
  • 4 mph or 8 mph – 4 mph electric scooters are restricted to pavement use only. 8mph are allowed to be used on the road and pavement as long as the scooter can be restricted to 4mph for pavement use. 8 mph scooters are liable to be register with the DVLA click on link to the side for further information.
  • Range capacity – Scooters will vary in the range they can cover per charge. If you plan on traveling long distance per charge you will need a scooter with a high range.
  • Lights – If you plan to travel at night you will require lights.
  • Weight capacity – Each scooter has a different maximum rider weight capacity. Check before you buy if this is an issue.
  • Transportable or not – If you intend to transport your scooter in your car ensure the scooter you buy in transportable, and can be dismantled easily and when dismantled each section is light enough to lift and place in you car.

Question to ask before you buy a mobility scooter:

  • Do they offer national coverage?
  • Does the company offer an assessment if required; ensuring you buy is the right one for you?
  • Will they assemble scooter when delivered?
  • Will they complete a safety check and demonstrate the scooter?
  • Does the company offer a full warranty and visit YOU should anything break. Some companies will require the scooter to be sent back to the manufacturer in the original packaging to be repaired, you may have to pay for the postage.
  • Does the company employ their own technicians to repair any faults?
  • Do they offer any other mobility products which may be of interest?

Keep it looking good, but also prevent unnecessary wear. Don't let your mobility scooter get too wet if you are caught in the rain, dry your mobility scooter to prevent corrosion

Store in a dry place if possible to prevent weathering wear
